Our AP Chinese class, together with other Chinese classes, returned from a four-day study trip to Hangzhou. This is an annual student-led trip in which students research cities connected to the AP Chinese curriculum, present their group proposals, and vote for the final destination. Students were involved in planning the entire trip, including hotel arrangements and itinerary details. This year, students visited West Lake, Leifeng Pagoda, Three Pools Mirroring the Moon, Lingyin Temple, and Hefang Street, and also traveled to Shaoxing to visit Lu Xun's Former Residence and Wang Xizhi's Former Residence. The trip gave students the opportunity to connect what they saw to their AP Chinese studies — from classical poetry and Buddhist culture to Chinese literature and history — while practicing Chinese in real-life situations and gaining a deeper appreciation for China's cultural heritage. We are already looking forward to next year's trip!
