UNIQUE AND BESPOKE OPPORTUNITIES
The After School Activities (ASA) program at DHS is designed to allow students the freedom to discover and develop lifelong passions, maintain a healthy body and mind, extend, and apply their classroom knowledge, and provide a link to give back to the community. We provide a wide range of ASA opportunities to let our students develop intellect, character, and health in a safe and welcoming environment.

MIT
The MIT-STEAM programme helps our students to develop their creativity and problem-solving skills by tackling interdisciplinary challenges facing the world today.
UNICEF
Students are challenged to make a difference locally and globally by tackling the Sustainable Development Goals and getting involved in local outreach.

We want to give both our students and our teachers the chance to make a meaningful, positive impact on the community around them. This includes embedding the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) in all aspects of teaching and learning across our schools, using materials developed by UNICEF.

IMG Academy's sports and wellbeing programme helps students build confidence, resilience, and leadership skills through world-class athletic training, personal development, and elite coaching.

We equip students with the tools to succeed both on and off the field by combining elite athletic training with personal development, wellbeing, and mindset coaching. Altogether, this builds their resilience, confidence, and leadership skills.
Our teachers also benefit from professional development led by IMG Academy’s expert coaches, ensuring they can inspire and support students in reaching their full potential.

A club for students looking to participate in competitive athletics.

A great opportunity to try something different and get involved in a fast-paced, physical activity.

Basketball ensures year-round team sports, taking place in the indoor gymnasium. The professional equipment allows our students to play national level games.

We will be bringing the Olympic events to DHS.

Our 25-metre pool provides the best opportunity for your child to learn lifesaving skills and to swim with confidence.

Table Tennis
This course aims to cultivate kids’ interest in playing this fast-paced indoor sport.

We stimulate students' potential through physical fitness and coordination training. Through a "positive discipline" teaching method, students can develop self-discipline, responsibility, cooperation, and the ability to solve problems by themselves.
Mindful Movement (Yoga)
Primary school students will learn the foundations of yoga through engaging movement activities.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND COMMUNITY
At DHS, we believe that our community service programs provide students with the opportunity to become active members of their larger community, develop critical life skills and knowledge while making a difference in the lives of those in need.
Auntie Wang’s Elderly Home Project – Students assessed the needs of the elderly residents and, among other things, spearheaded a successful food drive, brought together a group of student volunteers to make warm blankets and visited regularly to read books to the senior citizens.
No Plastic Bag Club - With sustainability in mind, students involved in this volunteer program focused on educating their classmates on the importance of maintaining a healthy environment by eliminating the use of plastic bags.
Accenture Computer Distribution Committee – A group of DAIS students and teachers came together to distribute donated computers to elementary and secondary students in need living near the school.

DHS offers a quality visual and performing arts program, allowing students to foster lifelong learning skills including collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, communication and problem solving.

The opportunity to dance with former professional ballet dancer Kara Harvey.

This ASA Acoustic Guitar Club welcomes those of all skill levels. Students will learn basic open chord shapes, the basics of strumming patterns, and songs of their choice.

We cultivate students’ cultural identity and understanding through art and literature.

Projects aren’t just traditional concepts on paper, but a real way for children to touch, feel, enjoy, make, and connect with their culture.

A club for students who love to watch, discuss, and learn new and exciting things about other countries and cultures through movies.

Throughout the sessions, we will watch fun and educational films about different cultures and their traditions. We will also complete exciting projects and activities related to what we learn from each film.
Game Design
A chance to undertake the process of conceiving, designing, and coding a video game.

Students will work in groups to create game mechanics and art. Working with the instructor to plan project goals and milestones to ensure success. As a year-end capstone, students will export games for the DHS community to enjoy.
If feeling art is a process of enjoying myself, then performing art is a process of showing myself.

Chaoyang Service Trip
Citizenship Expedition
In 2018, a group of DHS students went to a small village school near Chaoyang, Liaoning province.
Chaoyang Service Trip
DHS students spent quality time with the local children, getting to know them through play, conversation, and teaching them kids English, Chinese, art, and music. At the end of the trip, the volunteers felt a sense of accomplishment as they had not only made a difference in the lives of the children they met, but they also grew as individuals.

The annual Anbo Mountain ski trip is a yearly highlight for our students and staff as they engage in outdoor sporting activities together and enjoy the picturesque landscape on a beautiful winter day in the Dalian area.

A great opportunity for students from different schools to discuss international situations.
Model United Nations Trips
By participating in MUN conferences students work on finding solutions to some of the current problems the world is facing, participate in debates, build leadership skills, and utilize critical thinking skills to resolve ongoing international issues. It is events like this that help students gain social and emotional experiences outside of the normal hours of school. The Model United Nations program at DAIS helps to create well-rounded students and responsible global citizens.

The main goal of this trip is to learn about the human and natural resources of Liaoning province, to see real world examples of human impact on the environment, and to deepen students’ understanding about how public spaces, like parks, help to shape communities.
