Where Learning Grows

This summer, a new student farm took shape on our campus, adding to the outdoor spaces where children can explore, discover, and learn through firsthand experiences. For our Early Years students, these spaces create daily opportunities to engage with nature while developing important skills through hands-on activities.
In the garden, learning starts with simple discoveries. One day, children spot a new sprout pushing through the soil. A few days later, they may discover a flower in bloom or a tiny vegetable starting to grow. These everyday moments help children develop a meaningful connection with nature.
Outdoor learning also supports physical development. Digging in the soil, carrying watering cans, planting seedlings, and moving through outdoor environments help children strengthen both fine and gross motor skills. At the same time, they practice problem-solving, observation, and teamwork as they work alongside classmates and teachers.
Our location in Jinshitan provides a unique setting for this kind of learning. Set within one of Dalian's most scenic coastal areas, our spacious green campus is surrounded by forests and mountains, making the outdoors a natural part of daily life.
The new student farm reflects DAIS's commitment to creating meaningful learning experiences that engage the whole child. By bringing nature into everyday learning, we help students build confidence, independence, and a lasting appreciation for the world around them.
