Boarding is an integral element of DHS student life. It also allows students to recognize their obligations and responsibilities, to develop self-discipline and a sense of ownership.

The Huamei Boarding Program provides Grade 3 to Grade 12 students with opportunities to develop the ability to live independently. Boarding life teaches students respect and tolerance, as well as the ability to actively and collaboratively seek solutions to problems, preparing students for future challenges.

Our Boarding Program

Huamei Boarding Program

During guided study times, students will have access to one-on-one tutoring services in all subjects including Math, English, and Science.

There are many activities available for Boarding students to develop their talents and pursue personal excellence. DAIS/DHS offers a Saturday program on campus and partners with several local providers to offer high quality instruction and experiences for our students. These activities include fencing, equestrian, Jiu-jitsu, Yoga, as well as seasonal activities such as skiing, snowboarding, rowing, sailing, diving, paddle boarding and windsurfing.

DHS offers an Enhanced Leadership Program designed to provide students with an opportunity to gain valuable leadership skills. Eligible High School students can coach and mentor younger students within the After School Activities and Athletics programs. Students can also work towards becoming a Lifeguard, work in the fitness center, and coach an ASA or sports activity.

Boarding facilities

Our warm, positive boarding facilities offer a balanced, healthy lifestyle at the core of boarding life at DHS. The dormitory building can accommodate more than 400 students. Small dorms, with rooms for 4 students sharing, create a welcoming environment to form long-lasting bonds. Air-conditioning and purification, heating, and en-suite bathrooms provide comfort, while card-only access ensures security.

The boarding management team provides a safe, caring environment that enriches the lives of the students in their care. Boarding students are provided with a wide selection of after-school activities, food services, and emotional and medical support. By creating a warm, loving environment, and setting a regular schedule, dormitory managers help students gain the self-care skills needed to study abroad.
