"Is American math simple? What do children learn in class?" In order to answer the questions of parents, we are honored to invite teacher Dr.Liu from our school to answer your questions.

MATH LEARNING

What are the similarities and differences between Chinese and American mathematics teaching?

Mathematics is the most international subject. In China, tests and exams are more common, but in our school, the mathematics test is an open-book format, which will provide students with the required mathematical formulas.

We hope to guide students through teaching and develop their critical thinking ability and reasoning logic. Exams are tools for teaching, and the results of exams are reflections on teachers' performance. Through the academic grades, teachers can find out what students are not coping with well and offer solutions.

How do students learn mathematics at Huamei?

We will divide the students according to their academic levels, and students who have spare capacity can skip grades through self-study and exams. Secondary school students can be exposed to cutting-edge courses such as statistics. It is the era of big data now, and statistics itself is a subject based on data. Students who have the required skills can take statistics as a university transition course in secondary school to discover their career interests early and consider their future professional direction.

Education is a complex and dynamic field. Our secondary school implements small class size teaching, with no more than 20 students in each class, so that teachers can have sufficient time to pay attention to each student and deliver personalized teaching.

MATH LEARNING

Do you have any tips for learning math?

Everyone is unique. Einstein also failed tests when he was in school. Everyone has different fields of expertise. Some children are more suitable for exam-oriented education. They are very comfortable to be in school. Children's most precious qualities are curiosity and proactivity. Parents and schools need to protect and stimulate children's interest and enterprising spirit, to cultivate children's communication skills, sense of cooperation, innovation and critical thinking.

Dr. Liu recommends "Math with bad drawings" to parents and students alike. The author Ben Orlin makes math learning interesting and vivid. Through this book, parents and students can study mathematics in an easy-to-understand manner and inspire children's interest in learning math.
